Hormones are not the first thing that comes to your mind when you think about a successful blog.
Heck! You are probably thinking what do this two have to do with each other?

This might come surprising to you but, hormones, especially Testosterone and Cortisol – The Male and The Stress hormone have a lot do with business success.
The chemicals in your body have a huge influence on how you think, how you feel and how you behave.

Let’s take a deeper look, on how hormones affect you and which hormones are keys to success…

1.DOPAMINE DRIVES YOU TO SET AND REACH GOALS

Dopamine is what you can call “The Motivation Hormone”.

Each time you set a goal that you want to achieve really badly, your Dopamine Spikes. The closer you get to achieving it, the more motivated you feel and the spike continues in correlation.

Once you achieve it, you feel Great, you get a rush, a dopamine rush. This feeling also makes you seek other goals as well. That’s what Dopamine does, it creates a pattern of behaviour which drives you to do something.

From an evolutionary point of view, this is a great system. which you can use for your advantage.

You can increase Dopamine by setting and achieving mini-goals. For example, if you need to get an article done by the end of the day, then write it on a paper.

Once you get it done, put a check on the paper. This will boost dopamine, which then will translate into increased motivation when it comes to other goals as well. Do this daily, and it will help very well with motivation and also with time management

You can also use herbs that increase Dopamine, like Mucuna Pruriens. It contains L-Dopa, the precursor of dopamine.

2.TESTOSTERONE MAKES YOU ASSERTIVE AND COMMANDING

Most of the people associate Testosterone with muscle, beards and aggression, and that’s all true.
However according to latest research testosterone plays a major role when it comes to leadership and assertiveness.

Both men and women who are more assertive, have significantly higher levels of Testosterone than those who are retiring.

Financial income is positively correlated with Facial width-to-height ratio (fWHR) according to this study. And fWHR is also a good indicator of testosterone levels in humans and primates as seen in these studies (1)(2)(3)

Testosterone levels are also highly linked to leadership and dominance. In fact, all successful leaders have high testosterone and low cortisol, the same trend is observed in animals. High testosterone is also correlated with strive for high social status.

And the testosterone social status link works vice versa too.

For example, this study found that, when a rhesus monkey achieved a higher social status and became a leader it experienced a 238% increase in testosterone during 24 hour period!

So if you want increased assertiveness and other benefits of high testosterone such as: robust libido, increased overall well-being, bone health and ability to put on muscle mass, then i highly recommend checking out Chris’sTestshock program.

3.CORTISOL MAKES YOU STRESSED OUT AND ELIMINATES TESTOSTERONE’S BENEFITS

cortisol-and-testosterone-levels

Cortisol is the stress hormone. Your body needs cortisol to help you survive situations when you need to increase your speed, strength and concentration FAST!

However, most people have chronically elevated cortisol because of poor lifestyle and stress. And that is no good.
Apart from killing you slowly, it sharply reduces your long-term ability to focus, think and work. This will destroy your ability to get stuff done.

Cortisol also decreases testosterone and completely eliminates the psychological benefits, since these two are antagonists (which basically means that they oppose each other), both of them can’t be high at the same time.

A great way to reduce cortisol is getting enough sleep, water and meditating. Increasing carbohydrate intake also reduces cortisol and increases testosterone (1). And as you probably guessed, working on the latter one will help as well.

You can also take adaptogens, herbs that reduce cortisol. My favourite ones are Ashwagandha and Rhodiola Rosea

4.OXCYTOCIN BUILDS TRUST AND CONNECTION

You have probably heard about oxytocin. No, we are not talking about pregnancy.

According to the research done by Paul Zak, Oxytocin is the moral molecule. It builds the trust and connection.

How might this benefit you and your blog?

By building trust and triggering emotions of your readers you will cause them to release oxytocin. You can do this by simply giving out highly valuable content for free.

Think about it for a second, wouldn’t you trust a person more if they gave you something very valuable for free. Wouldn’t you be more likely to buy their stuff?

Well Paul Zak found the exact same thing. When he made people play a game which involved sending money, he found that when somebody sent generous amount to another person, that person was more likely to send even more money back.

And this effect was dependent on oxytocin. The more money you sent the higher the receivers oxytocin will be, and the more he will send you back. This can totally be seen in giving away valuable content for free.
I encourage you to watch Paul’s talk on Ted:

This strategy is also used by Greg and his Team at kinobody.com, and it works great. You get the amazing free stuff which builds up the trust and the confidence to invest in his products.

4.SEROTONIN DRIVES THE PRIDE, LEADERSHIP AND TEAM WORK

Serotonin is the hormone that drives the pride, the leadership and the team work.

Its Testosterones social grandson as we might say. When testosterone gets converted into it’s stronger form, DHT, it increases serotonin production in the brain.

This is why leaders also have much higher serotonin and why testosterone typical behaviour is so highly linked to serotonin type behaviour. But they are not the same.

You can have sky high testosterone, but if your serotonin is low you will be a only self-profit oriented man who doesn’t care about his team.

This hormone comes to a play when you interact with your audience.

You are the authority to them, you provide them with resources, knowledge or whatever you do. If you completely neglect the audience, don’t pay attention to what they say and what they want, but instead focus on making them buy your stuff without giving them something beforehand, you will lose your authority and look like a complete sell-out.

You have to realise that your audience is just like a team and you are the leader. Give and provide more to receive more in return. This how blogging, business and the universe work.
